The Holloway Society formally constituted in January 2026 from several groups that had been running since 2022: The whole being greater than the sum of the parts. IF you look on the Societies web sites, The Magazine, History, Genealogy or Archive you will find a lot of material we have published or collated. We always have a lot of projects underway. We are project based so projects can draw on a wide range of skills across the groups from searching family records, talking to people, researching archives and libraries through publishing and on to film-making and audio files. Our members range from 30s to 70s and because we are project based you can join in at your own speed and pick projects that appeal to you. Most of us work from home but also meet up in cafés of over coffee (and some in pubs with a pint!). We have two levels of membership both at £10 per year. See membership page. We have produced many online documents on local history, heritage and people. We are primarily interested in the "ordinary" people of Tamworth, past and present. Their stories are fascinating and fill in all the details of life between the public faces of the "big names" |
